What we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to make us stop.
Who we are
Magzinez is operated by Magzinez (United Kingdom). For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for personal data collected through https://magzinez.com. You can reach us at hello@magzinez.com.
What we collect
We keep the amount of personal data we hold deliberately small.
- Analytics data. Aggregate, privacy-preserving measurements of page views and performance, so we know which articles people read and whether the site is fast. This does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you.
- Email address, if and only if you send us one, or subscribe to something. We use it to reply to you, or to send what you asked for.
- Advertising data, collected by Google and its partners rather than by us. See below.
- Server logs, including IP address, kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.
We do not sell personal data. We do not run trackers of our own beyond what is described here.
Advertising and Google AdSense
This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense. In connection with that:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com.
- If you are in the UK or the EEA, we ask for your consent before any non-essential advertising cookie is set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the link in the site footer.
More detail on how Google uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Legal bases
We rely on consent for advertising and any non-essential cookies; on legitimate interests for aggregate analytics, security logging and replying to correspondence; and on legal obligation where we are required to retain something.
How long we keep it
Correspondence: up to 24 months. Server logs: up to 30 days. Aggregate analytics: indefinitely, because it contains nothing that identifies you. Advertising data is governed by Google's own retention policies, not ours.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Email hello@magzinez.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Transfers
Our hosting, analytics and advertising providers operate internationally, which means data may be processed outside the UK. Where that happens it is covered by the appropriate safeguards, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top will change with it. See also our cookie policy.
